About

Hi, I’m Claret, the home cook behind The Curious Kitchen.

I created this blog to share simple, reliable homemade recipes using everyday ingredients that are easy to find in Nigerian kitchens. Here you’ll find step-by-step guides for traditional meals, snacks, and practical cooking methods that help you cook confidently at home, even if you are still learning.

My interest in food goes beyond cooking. I studied Nutrition and Dietetics, which gave me a deeper understanding of ingredients, food preparation, and how everyday meals nourish the body. Although I’m currently a mum and a homemaker, my background in nutrition continues to shape how I approach cooking and recipe development.

Most of my cooking is also influenced by growing up in Nigeria and preparing meals for my family. Over time, I realized that many people struggle not because recipes are difficult, but because small details are often missing — the right order of cooking, the correct water quantity, or how to balance seasoning.

Because of this, I test each recipe in my own kitchen before sharing it. I write the instructions carefully so that even beginners can follow them successfully and get good results.

On The Curious Kitchen, you will find:

  • Nigerian everyday meals and soups
  • Homemade snacks and street food recipes
  • Kitchen tips and ingredient substitutes
  • Simple cooking techniques explained clearly

My goal is to make home cooking less intimidating and more practical. The recipes here are not restaurant-style perfection — they are realistic meals you can prepare with ingredients you already have at home.

When I’m not cooking, I’m a mum and a writer who enjoys learning new kitchen skills and sharing what works in my everyday kitchen.
